Abhinav Bindra Won Olympic Gold Medal For India
August 11, 2008 – 10:13 pm
Abhinav Bindra won gold medal for India for the first time in an individual event in the Olympics. He won the gold medal in men’s 10m air rifle shooting. It was a great victory comming from behind. Abhinav was trailing at the 4th position after the qualifying round. However, thanks to a great final round, he captured the first position. The hot favourite and defending Olympic champion China’s Zhu Qinan won the Silver medal. He will be very disappionted and his face told it all when he was standing at the podium. Finland’s Hakkinen was leading but he did many mistakes in the final round which pushed him to the 3rd place and won the Bronze medal.
This was indeed a historic medal for India. We Indians should celebrate this and not indulge in too much Sachin and Donhi Hai Hai. Just Kidding! I am a cricket fan too. I think we should give due credit to this win.
