Appu Ghar Closed To Public
February 19, 2008 – 5:28 pm
Appu Ghar, the first amusement park of India located at Delhi has been declared closed to public from February 17, 2008. It was inagurated in 1984 and was christened after the mascot of the 1982 Asian games. It is sad to hear that this day has arrived as many like me has little emotional attachment with Appu Ghar. I am fortunate to have visited Appu Ghar when there was probably no other amusement park in the country way back in 1992 as a school boy. This was at a time when there was no Essel World(Mumbai) or GRS Fantasy park of Mysore. The earlier amusement park of Bangalore I can remember were Crazy Waters and Niladri. I think both of them were closed.
Appu Ghar is closed down to make way for the new section of the Supreme court and a part of the Metro station. This was little expected as the land lease agreement lapsed between Indian Trade Promotion Organization and International Amusement limited sometime back. I hope they gets alternate land as they asked for.
