Balded CMH Road, But have Heart Metro is Comming UP
June 1, 2008 – 8:19 am
CMH road not long ago used to be treat to stroll but recent development has taken out the charm out of that like insect skimmed out of milk. Felling of trees on one side of CMH road on the section between old Madras road and 100 ft road junction has made it almost a balded road. It looks so empty now and gives a feeling that something is missing.
CMH Road on a early Sunday morning.
You can see a felled tree there. On the right side you can see the footpath has been halved, I heard the authorities are trying to expand the road to meet the space that will be taken by Metro rail.
During the spring it used to give a feeling one is somewhere on any downtown city of UK. But all this for a greater cause. All these is making for the Metro Rail project which is taking shape slowly. BMRCL is already installing piers on the 100 ft road stretch between old Madras road and CMH road junction. Most of the road is barricaded and hardly space for one vehicle to move. I am not at all against the Metro rail but I am pained to see the trees go. It pains me even more to see the trunk of the felled trees spouting new leaves and realizing that these trunks will be removed in some days.
The work on the CMH road section has not been taken up yet but authorities are revamping the drains on both sides. I read somewhere the alignment will be on the Shanti Sagar side and one station will be at/near the Arya Samaj building. So now it will be few years of non-stop construction and difficulty for commuters. But Metro must come to CMH road as it will help people of this area in the long run. Then one do not have to dance to the tune of Autos and also traveling will be more comfortable. But given the pace of most public work in India, it is still a few years away(3 - 4 years). I hope the authorities will re plant trees and beautify the road once the project is completed. So lets bear it for some time for a good cause.
