Bangalore Book Festival

Bangalore Book Festival – 2007, the first to happen in Bangalore. Books festivals are very good to happen in the city sometimes deemed to be the knowledge city. But on such festivals we are looking for new and variety but after taking a walk around the stalls you will see most of the local book shops, well known publishers like McMillan, oxford press, Prentice-Hall, etc opened their stalls. Also, most of the fair was captured by spiritual books and meditation stalls run by spiritual ashrams and religious organizations. Btw, I do not have anything against spiritual ashrams or religious organizations; I understand their books are also necessary. If I have any complain then it was the missing newness or variety of books. The scale of the fair is also less in comparison with other established fairs but this is a good beginning. However, they need to up the scale little bit and must introduce newness and more variety. Lastly, one needs to buy ticket to visit the Bangalore Book Festival which costs Rs 20. So the organizers should ensure that this Rs 20 is worth it.

I want to know about the Bangalore Book Fair 2008. I doin’t know whether it was over or it will come on Oct-Nov 08.

@ Saoli – The Bangalore Book Fair typically coincide or happens after Durga Puja. It is not yet over. It should be within the month of October.

It started on November 14 at Palace Grounds. I’m going there today. Also, I’ll post a review of the fair today (or latest by tomorrow) at my blog.
