Garuda Mall
August 27, 2007 – 4:16 pm
Garuda mall is one of the best malls to have come up in Bangalore till now. Situated at Magarth road, Garuda Mall offers a a variety of stuffs under one roof. It offers movies, food, pub/bar, games, shopping. Garuda mall have a high brand presence and one can buy schullers, levis etc. Also, they have a shopper’s stop which itself offers various things from cloths to jwellery. It is multi-level mall, 7 to be precise. The mall seems to have most of the mordern amenities like automated escalators, lifts and neatly maintained rest rooms.
Most of the space is assigned to shopping however other activity can also be enjoyed there. Like the Scary house on the 6th floor can be said as an off beat theme and may be a good idea to break the monotone. However, I did not find much to scare to walk through the dark room. On the other hand one of my friend was so scared and she was hold me throught out the walk. In fact I was scared if I will fell down – the way she was holding me. At Rs 40 per head it should be fun for most of the people, particularly Kids. However, only kids above certain age are allowed. Also, there is a small games section( I am not sure which floor was that on now) which may be enjoyed by kids.
With kids comes to mind the most unfortunate thing that happened in Garuda mall recently. A kid who come with his family fell from a particular floor and lost his life. People come to such malls to enjoy and every effort should be made to make sure that people are only entertained here. I am glad to see on my recent visit there that they have put a net in place, they have closed the small openings near the escalators, erected an extended lines of rod after the actual floor space and a security gaurd stationed near every escalator.
Lets get back to review of the mall. The pub there is ok but not a unique one. The music played there can be rated as average – not many variations. The best part of Garuda mall and the thing which drives people is the Inox multiplex on the 5th floor. They have eight screens. I think this really a good addition for the people of this area with galaxy, Lido( they are opening their doors shortly) and Symphony closed for renovations. For people not willing to spend much money on watching movies then watching a movie on a weekday morning at Rs 59 will be a good idea. On weekends it can reach up to Rs 350 per ticket. You can book a ticket in advance via SMS, online, phone. However, no outside food or drinks allowed inside(Yes another business idea, making sure you buy from them at high rates).
If you find any new additions or interesting stuffs please leave a comment and I will try to update the post. People trying to reach from Residency road, MG road – can take the commisariat road leading to the mall. Lastly, they have huge parking facility in their 2 level basement through at a charge. So dont worry if you want to bring your vehicle.
