Bangalore race Course to be Shifted Soon

July 24, 2008 – 9:02 pm

One of the most visible landmark in Bangalore city - the race course may be shifted soon to outskirts of the city. The Karnataka government has decided to shift it and looking for alternative sites. The flyover built recently besides the flyover gives an enchanting view of the race course. The Public Works Minister C M Udasi in the assembly told they were looking to use the land for underground parking. The turf club can do fine in the outskirts of the city. But the important question how well the government can make use of this land. The land is quite large in the heart of the city. Naturally, realtors will be dying to grab a piece of this land. The government should not sell this land to a private developer altogether. On the contrary government should go for public - private partnership. The land can also be segmented and planned for better use. Like some part of the land can turned into green open space for public, some space for commercial usage etc. Reports like constructing a underground metro station there can also be given a thought. Well, lets see what come out!
