Bheemeshwari Fishing and Nature Camp
January 24, 2008 – 1:06 pm
Last year I have been to the Bheemeshwari Fishing and Nature Camp at Bheemeshwari(Muthati), a property of the Jungle lodges and Resorts, a Government of Karnataka undertaking. It is a good weekend outing to say hello to nature and refresh yourself. The camp features the awesome adventure sports river rafting, nature walkleading you to the watch tower on a hill giving you a bird’s view of the area around and river cauvery below. On the banks of river Cauvery one can find white sand which can be a excellent spot for picnic. On the watch tower hold yourself as the wind speed will give you feel that it is going to blow you away.

It can a full day tour or you may even plan to stay a day or two as Jungle lodges provide good accomodation facility. For Day visit or a night halt it is wise to book your package in advance. They have their office in Bangalore at MG road. Here is the address:

Since public transportation is hardly there, one should go for their own or hired vehicle. Vehicle for hire is easily available in Bangalore. Typically for a Toyata it may come Rs 6 - 6.50 per Km. Also, a day bata of 100 - 150 for the driver may be required. If the tour extends to late night you make require to pay a night bata also. Comming back to the camp, one can choose the popular day visit to start with. It cost us Rs 750 per person which includes welcome drink, lunch, tea and nature walk. Yes, you gotta buy your own breakfast. The camp starts at 8 - 8.30 am with nature walk. Then one can take it easy and enjoy being laid back on the hamock. Also, one can have some fun jumping on the ropes machan attached with the trees. Food is quite good and one may have breverages(extra). The intesting event there is river rafting. Make sure you book your slot along with your package or right after reaching there. At that time it cost us Rs 425/person. It features a journey of 8 km downstream river cauvery braving grade 2 and at max grade 3 rapids. They impart little training in this regard and provide life jackets. Late in the afternoon you may try the coracle ride which comes with the package. Rafting season is typically from July to September. Very good place to be with the family and friends. In case if you go alone, you can just be yourself and have fun. The place is around 100 km from bangalore and takes around 2 - 3 hrs depending on the condition of the road. So just make up your mind and you will be right there. Have fun!
