I heard from an employee there that they are going to open one more store at Bannerghatta road soon. I recently visited Hypercity at Kundanahalli. It is quite spacious and offers huge range of products. Ample parking space is available in the basement and your parking fees will be reimbursed if you purchase more than Rs 200. The ground floor at Hypercity mainly has vegetable and eatables at the front side followed by grocery etc. There is a nice spirit shop called Drops – Total Spirit. The first floor offers furniture, apparels, electronic items, shoes, cycles, exercising items, dolls etc. Apparel prices are good and it has a very good collection of sun glasses. Apart from that all other prices are either equivalent or more than their competition.

There is also another mall called Forum Value mall in Whitefield.

A new mall has open door in Bangalore. Named Golden Heights mall, it is located at the entrance of Rajajinagar. One can also reach there by driving from Navarang via Rajkumar road. This is the first mall in Rajajinagar area (Bangalore west). The mall built by Sumangala properties is going to be a mix space of retail and office – commercial segment. There is also going to be a hotel managed by the Sarovar group.

I visited Golden Heights mall on Saturday evening. Ample parking space is available and normal parking fee for two wheeler is Rs 10. However, if you purchase more than Rs 200 worth of goods from Star Bazaar which is located on the first floor, they will discount your parking fee on their goods cost. Nice bait!

So we moved on to see the mall. From the parking basement, they have escalators to reach the mall floor. On the ground floor, there are only few shops as of now. Popular among them are Croma, McDonald. The entire first floor is owned by Star Bazaar. The Tata owned Star Bazaar is a hyper market on the lines of Big Bazaar, Spar etc. So now this area has one more destination to hang around.

Bangalore is getting malled as the mall phenomenon continues. There is a new addition of mall in Bangalore called Mantri Square. Located at Sampige Road, Malleshwaram it is said to be the largest mall in Bangalore till date. It has been developed by real estate developer Mantri group just besides their residential complex Mantri Greens.

Mantri Square is a 5 story mall including 1 story of basement shops. It has another 2 stories of basement for parking. I think Mantri Square is the first mall in Bangalore to implement multiple level marking ( one vehicle above another). thereby saving space. I visited there yesterday and the mall is not yet fully complete. The developers were in a hurry to open the doors. As they knew they will be the only mall for that area (Malleshwaram, Rajajinagar etc). As I see the trend, now mall development will take place targeting a particular area. I heard from a birdie that a huge mall is coming up at the entrance of Rajkumar road. When completed Mantri Square will feature around 250 outlets starting Bangalore shops like Show Off to many international brands.

Mantri Square has SPAR, Reliance Timeout, Reliance Trends, Reliance Footprints, Planet M, Reliance Jewels, Adidas, Nokia, Titan, Scary House etc. A 6 screen multiplex from Inox will open shortly. The floor plan is nicely done but to find a place to sit for is hard to find inside the mall. However, on the 5th floor they have a huge food court featuring various restaurants, fast food counter etc. Mantri Square has indeed given a new place to hang out for the people of that area but the same time increased traffic snarls by more than 5 times. On Saturday night saw a huge number of traffic police personals along with staffs from Mantri Square were finding it difficult to maintain traffic on that stretch. Further more Sampige road is one way which makes things more difficult. A nother branch of Big Bazaar has opened nearby which had added to woe.

I saw on their website they are maintaining fire safety but after I saw the car parking area in the basement with bundles of wires moving all over the places. It did made me little concerned about fire safety as are just two or so exits. I hope they are upto the job of safety.

Happy Mallomania!

Total Mall at the old Airport road opened about a year ago. It is located at the same place where Kemp Fort was located. I have been to the Shiva temple behind Total mall but never visited there. Today, due some anomaly in plan, I ended up there.

As soon you enter you will see colorful aquarium. But the overall design of the mall is not eye catching. They have 4 floors including the ground floor. The two top floors are held by Total mall where they sell almost everything. The two bottom floors are held by different stores including McDonalds. Also, the mall do not offer much of variety. Still in weekends, it will quite packed. Parking is Rs 10 for two wheelers (0 – 2 hours). Lastly, there is no proper sitting arrangement. Another Total mall is located at Madivala.

Location: Besides Rajarajeshwari temple gate, Rajarajeshwari Nagar, Mysore road

Gopalan Arcade is the latest entrant in the number of malls in Bangalore. The mall has opened its door to public with just a few stores like McDonands, KFC, Cafe Coffee Day and Tata Star Bazaar. More stores like Rebook etc is coming soon. The structure of the mall is like palace with nice interiors. Parking is available. Star Bazaar is giving huge discounts on its products here.

One of the to be watched thing here will be Big Cinema of Reliance ADAG. Yes, Reliance is already in multiplex business and owns multiplexes abroad too. It is entering Bangalore at Gopalan Arcade.

Prestige group, the company behind the Forum mall in Koramangla – has opened their second mall in Bangalore called Forum Value mall at Whitefield. This mall has opened a new destination of shopping and good time for the residents of Whitefield. Earlier to watch movies people from this area had to come to the city. Later they had an option in the form of Innovative Multiplex at Marathahalli. However, the sound quality of Innovative is not that good. Now there is better option as Fame Cinema has came up with a 5 screen pultiplex at Forum value mall. The Value Mall has opened recently. So you can see a wide range of discounts in almost every shops. However, as the name “Value Mall” suggests, these discounts may continue.

It features lots of stores like Mega Mart, Pepe Jeans, Levis, Tommy Hilfiger, Peter England etc in apparel, Metro and Soles in shoes, Health and Glow, Transit for food etc. The mall is quite spacious and you have option to sit at places. To check the complete stores, click here. They have introduced parking card – you will be given a card with a time stamp and you will have to hand over this card at the exit. Depending on the time, you will be charged parking fee. I feel the parking fee is too high- Rs 15 for upto 4 hrs. I think they can work on this liitle bit, as not may people are going to spend 4 hours in a mall. They can create a 2 hour slab also.

Route: Old Airport road – Marathahalli – Whitefield or Old Madras road – Go below KR Puram flyover – Whitefield
