Happy Kannada Rajyotsava

Today the first day of November is celebrated as Kannada or Karnataka Rajyotsava every year. Kannada Rajyotsava is celebrated as the statehood day for the state of Karnataka. The state of Karnataka was officially formed on November 1, 1956. Since then this day is celebrated as Rajyotsava. This is a public holiday for Karnataka. The name Karnataka came into force from November 1, 1973, replacing the earlier name Mysore. One can see the kannada flag flying on Bmtc buses, autos etc. There are cultural functions all round the state but this time the celebration is little subduded due the political uncertainity in the state.
