Electronic City Expressway is Open to Public Now
January 24, 2010 – 1:19 pm

The Electronic city flyover is finally completed and thrown open to Public by Union minsiter Kamal Nath and Karnataka CM BS Yedurryappa on 22nd Jan, 2010. The work started on this project long and it was supposed to complete in April 2008. But after several delays it is completed now. Today morning I along with few of my friends went for a test drive there. I reached the flyover by 8.30 am. The good news is the toll booths are not yet functional, so your rides are free now. Traffic on the flyover is very less and I zoomed on the flyover to 80 km/hr. Yes, that’s it, as my vehicle refuses accelerate further. My friend achieved a top speed of 135 km/hr. Looks like the minimum speed on the flyover is 80 km/hr. To board electronic city flyover, you will have move little after Silk Board flyover. This 9.5 km flyover was built by Soma enterprises, NCC and Maytas (of Satyam fame).
These three companies formed a company BETL to run and main the flyover. The toll booths has not been put in place yet, so you can do a test ride on the flyover for free now. Once the toll booths are in place, rides on this flyover will be charged. This flyover is one of the most advanced in the country with many new features like CCTV for round the clock monitoring, emergency response system, passes, mode payments like credit cards etc
