How to Reach the New Bangalore International Airport

The new Bangalore International Airport is located at Devanahalli around 40 km from Bangalore city center. So if you are thinking of traveling by then you might be already scratching your head how to reach there. But take heart that, there quite a few ways to reach there comfortably. I understand it is far and marred by traffic. Only if the traffic snarls are solved, it should not be that bad. Below are the various ways how you can reach BIA or Bangalore International Airport.

Basic Taxi Services

1. Meru(44224422) and EasyCab(43434343) provides basic texi service

basic AC 3 box cars equipped with tracking devices

over 900 taxis to run between BIA and various parts of Bangalore city

Rs 15/Km with waiting charge of Rs 60/hour.

Waiting area: Inner curb in front of the terminal building and designated taxi area.

You can simply pay at the end of your journey. Cards excepted and printed receipt facility available.

Approx for 25 km costs around Rs 1200

Airport Shuttle Service

For timings, check the site - www.bengaluruairport.com. You may also check the airport shuttle bay if you are at the airport. A bus every 30 mins on all routes. BMTC has launched 140 buses exclusively for BIA shuttle. Of these 40 for AC volvo buses(Vayu Vajras) and rest for Suvarna(peak hour services). fares range from Rs 80 - 200. The suvarna buses are quite good. Neat and clean and sleek in look. The buses has space for luggage and collapsible ramps for wheel borne commuters. These buses will operate on 9 routes.

Parking

Parking facility for 2000 vehicles in various categories - long term parking, general parking, premium pick up service, valet service etc.

Long term parking(overnight): Rs 300 - for the 1st day 24 hrs and Rs 200 for every additional day

Regular: Rs 50/hr

General parking: Rs 40/2 hrs and Rs 20 for every additional hour

Drop off/Pick up Area

No charges for the first 10 mins

Rs 50 for every additional 15 mins

Valet Service

Rs 150 for the service

Valet parking charge is as per the rates charged for P1 - long term parking

Porter Service Rates

Minimum(upto 3 bags): Rs 70

Additional bag: Rs 25

Group Baggage(upto 12 bags): Rs 250 - No tips

User Development fee

A user development fee of Rs 1070 will be collected from out bound international passengers on or before june 30.

Pay UDF at counters in the check-in hall or on the first floor before immigration check counters

Produce receipt of UDF payment during immigration check

Payment can be made by cash, debit card or credit card(VISa/Mastercards only).

On or after July 1

UDF will be included in ticket fare

infants under the age of 2 years airline crew on duty are exempted

  4. I intend to park my car for 2 weeks at bangalore international airport but seems the car parking charges are going to be more expensive than the cost of my family travelling to and fro by flight to kolkatta can anyone suggest a solution

    Taxi service to the airport is expensive as well bus journey is not fiseable

  5. @ Abhishek - You may try the volvo bus service which is available from most part of Bangalore and is spacious and comfortable with luggage space. To park you car, I would suggest you to check for any parking services like garage or government parking lots.
