India faced the first serious challange in the 20/20 world cup 2009 in the form of West Indies in the super eight. As in the group level India just played Bangladesh and Ireland. And at the first level of actual challange the defending champion lost to West Indies. I am not angry that they lost but I am very angry with the attitude they played game. The lethergic body language, shoddy fieldings etc were more than enough to contribute to their loss.

India won the toss and elected to bat. Unfortunately, Gautam Gambhir’s form has been on the down swing for sometime – he made 14 runs. I just not able to trust Rohit Sharma (5 runs) - he has been a let down on almost all crunch situations. I cannot believe that captain Dhoni consumed 23 balls for his 11 runs in a twenty/twenty match. It was just two guys – Yuvraj Singh (67) and Yusuf Pathan (31) who helped India to reach a respectable total. India made a total of 153/7 in 20 overs.

Now onto the bowling – India did started quite good and was able to scalp the wicket of Chris Gayle early in the match. But their fielding was shoddy and body language was sad. The winning attitude was just not there. It is the attitude which helps the fate. With bad attitude comes bad luck – India dropped a catch, missed run out options, below par fielding which has cost the match. However, Dwyne Bravo ( 66 runs from 33 balls) was the clear distinction between India’s loss and West Indies’ win.

Check the complete scorecard.

India will have to introspect honestly and bring in more energy on the field. Cammon on India – Positive energy.
