Indiblogger.in Blogger’s Meet In Bangalore
February 20, 2008 – 5:26 pm
Blogging in Bangalore is not a new thing as these days apart from moms and pops, grannies are also game. But it is still a young person’s domain. And I was not surpirsed at the recent Blogger’s meet with most of the participants being young. This meet was organized by Indiblogger.in and sponsered by Microsoft. On Saturday afternoon, 16th Feb 2008 more than 50 bloggers gathered at Microsoft’s conference room at their Embassy Golf Link office. The event started with a little introduction to Indiblogger and followed by a talk from Microsoft India development head. After this one by one all bloggers introduced them and their blogs. This was my first at any bloggers meet and I am thrilled at the very thought that I was standing on the podium introducing my blogs and gave a little talk. I went there with an open mind and it did meet more than my expection.
A man talked about how closed the blogs are being followed by the journalists and its importance in the media. I can relate with this as my own blog “Bangalorebeats.com” has featured on “Bangalore Mirror”. There was sanjukta from the Blogathon team spreading about that event. They have a google group on the net. In the course of the event some very important topics has been discussed like content lifting and some too good write ideas. Many bloggers were concerned that their content are being lifted without due recognization to them. On this Mrinal Wadhwa, who emphasised on blogging ethics said it was more of a awareness problem. I agree with him and would like to add it is also more of a common sense problem. If I need to use someone’s content the first thing one may try is that person’s permision. If not, definately giving credit to that person.
One may try Copyscape, to track copies of their content on the net. I am glad that I could share this info with my fellow bloggers there. There are various aspects on copyright and sharing. A little understanding on the Indian Copyright Act will be handy. I will write a separate article covering this aspect.
Comming back to the event it was not only on a serious note – the humour part was injected by Comrade Chakra. We were provided with refreshments like tea, coffee, choclate drinks and Pizza by Microsoft. And while winding up come a gift in the form of a T – shirt which said “We Blog, So We Are” and also comes with the Microsoft logo and Indiblogger URL. Good Branding!
