Kolkata KnightRiders Beat Delhi DareDevils

The Kolkata KnightRiders’ captian Saurav Ganguly won the toss and elected to bat. Their batting was almost hopeless to watch in context of a T20 match. Salman butt was the top scorer with 44 runs and they amassed a total of just 133 runs in their quota of 20 overs. Kolkata Scorecard. Delhi DareDevils did exceedingly well in restricting their opponent and they knew they do not have do much to achieve that small total with the opening pair of Virender Sehwag and Gautam Ghambhir in top form. But there were completely different things waiting them in the second innings. Shoaib Akhter who was allowed to play in the IPL was deemed match fit by KnightRiders coach John Buccanan. And Shoaib Akther’s fiery spell started to show magic from the very first over. He picked up Delhi captain Virender Sehwag off the second ball of the opening over, snapped Gautam Gambhir in the fourth ball of his second over and grabbed AB de Villiers (7) and Manoj Tiwary (0) in succession in the the third and fourth balls of his third over. The end was as dramatic as the beginning. The 18th over given to Lakshmi rattan shukla with the next two overs to be bowled by Shoaib and Ishant sharma. But he took upto himself and cleaned the last three wickets for an early victory. Good captaincy by Ganguly here by giving Shukla to bowl and pressing the batsman to go all out against him thinking that the next two overs gone be difficult in form of Shoaib and Ishant. Good win Indeed as Ganguly said it is one of the best win of his career.
As you may be thinking, Shoaib Akhtar was the Man of the match. There was jubilation all over Eden garden. Shahrukh Khan as well as other players were hugging and jumping all around. There seems to a post match party at the ITC Sonar Bangla which is suppose to continue till the wee hours.
