Movie Review: DHOL
November 6, 2007 – 8:54 pm
In a recent interview I read, Priyadarshan told he himself became a brand. Well, it may be correct but his lattest movie DHOL a remake of the 1990 malayalam hit movie called “In harihar nagar”. Priyadarhsan told he remake movies to reach a larger audience. But in this recent adventure he has beat the DHOL of audiences. DHOL primarily a comedy and priyadarshan tried to punch a thriller twist into it. It is a story about a sister(Tanushree Dutta) who came to mumbai investigate her brother’s suicide. Also, of three young man(Tushaar Kapoor, Sharman Joshi and Kunal Khemu) and a not so young man(Rajpal Yadav). After all failure they found Sharman’s friend became rich after marying a rich girl. So they decided to woo a girl and do away with their woes. They decided they will do this together. The movie tries to make you laugh at many times by force and I automatically felt bizzare at regular intervals. Again, there is one goon who is looking for a dhol which contains large sum of cash. The dhol ends up with Tanushree’s brother’s friend’s girlfriend and none of them know what the dhol is all about. At the end Tanushre gave the dhol to the four but they threw the dhol telling what to do with it. Well with the bang on the floor, the dhol break and come out the moolah(cash). No wonder they were overjoyed. Buttonline – better to avoid the movie in theatres or you may end up beating the DHOL of your money.
