Whoa! Nano Bookings to Start From September 2008

I am sure there are thousands of people in India waiting for TATA 1 lakh car “Nano” to own their first car. For those who were waiting breathlessly there is little disappointment as the booking wont star in the month of July as earlier stated but likely start only in the month of September. Quite a few factors has attributed to this. Construction at the Car’s mother plan at Singur, West Bengal was delayed during the monsoon last year. The Singur land is typically a low lying area, which the Tatas now have elevated after spending a huge sum. The Tatas have faced many a storm with this project but it is good news that work is going at full swing at the Singur plant and they are expecting to finish the project and commence manufacturing within next three months. The car should hit the road only by the third quarter of this year.

The Tata Nano

The site and the project is always under scrutiny. The people against this project tried to sabotage this many a times starting from breaking the boundary wall etc. A case is pending against it in the supreme court after the case was quashed in the Kolkata high court. But all this not standing, the project has started to bear fruit already for the nearby areas. The company has built a motorable road, donated to the school of the locality and many such schemes are on the anvil. Once the project comes up, the locality with be much more prosper than it has been.

So your wait may have become a longer but surely it will come. This car is the hope of thousands of Indians of owning a car. After thousands of Nanos hit the road, the roads will definitely will be Nano in terms of size. But this cannot deny the car to hit the road and aspirations of the people to won it.
