New Way to Report FIR, if you are Denied One
January 4, 2008 – 2:57 am
Well Kiran Bedi India’s first women cop IPS officer may have shed her police uniform but she is continuing her fight against crime and corruption. With the launch of www.saferindia.com she is trying to reach those people who not able to report an FIR with the cops and if their requests are ignored even after personal visits. We all know that a large percentage of incidents go unreported in India and if on that cops refuses to accept reports then it becomes indeed hard.
However, now you have another door open if you are turned down by cops to report an FIR/your complaint remained unattended/not acknowledged. You can visit the website www.saferindia.com and register your complaints. As of now the SaferIndia will only take e – complaints. However, there are few pre-condition to note while using this service as follows in their own words:
1. Mission Safer India is to strengthen police services to provide a safer India and not an alternative to police responsibilities.
2. Use this service only if:
- Your complaint is true and have been ignored despite your personal visit to the police station.
- You are not intending to use Safer India’s services to settle personal scores.
- You have taken all lawfull steps and cooperated with the police as a law abiding citizen.
3. Safer India is a bridge between the police and the complainant and not an investigating agency.
4. Safer India expects that the complainant will take full responsibility for the correctness of the report and is aware of the consequences of false reporting.
Visit the following link to see how the system works and you need to create an ID to login and record your complaint.
