Now Full Talk Time for Every Mobile Phone Recharge

September 4, 2008 – 4:13 am

The Telecom Regulatory Authorithy of India(TRAI) has directed all telecom operators in India to do away with the processing fee. This will result in almost full talk time for every recharge of mobile phones for pre-paid cards. However, an administrative fee will be levied which should not exceed Rs 2 along with applicable taxes. The two major mobile phone connection provider Airtel and Vodafone charges almost 40% of Rs 350 as processing charge. Spice gives more talktime. A spice recharge of Rs 350 gives almost Rs 300 talk time. However, this will be a thing of the past after September 15. As from september 15 2008, this order will be in effect.

TRAI has also given some other directions like now you can even migrate from post paid to pre-paid but you number can remain the same. Previously, it was not possible. I myself has changed my pre-paid plan to post-paid with then Hutch(now Vodafone). But I was told, I cannot revert back to pre-paid with the same number. Also, the users can change LifeTime plans and migrate to another plan for a low fee. I myself has changed from pre-paid to post paid with then Hutch(now Vodafone). But, I was told I cannot revert back to pre-paid with the same number.
