Many a times students get hassled due to non availability of books in the market. This not only hamper their studies but their remarks too. However, if we go by the recent reports of a leading newspaper then students and parents need not worry anymore. As now onwards all textbooks of SSLC of all mediums will be available on the a website to be hosted by the Karnataka state government. They can be read, downloaded or printed. In fact, the whole set of 12 books can be carried in a pen drive.
It is a combined effort of the NIC, DSERT and department of public libraries. While the DSERT provided the content, the NIC digitized the textbooks and put them on the web.
Visit the following websites to access the text books:
www.karnatakapubliclibraries.gov.in
www.dsert.kar.nic.in
The following are essential to access the books on internet:
A web-connected computer
Adobe Acrobat reader and
Winzip software
How long it may take to download?
A book may take an average of five seconds if you have broadband connection.
In a dial-up connection, you may have to wait for 10 minutes
How it helps the students?
The whole book or individual chapters can be saved or printed
They can be sent around as e-mail attachmen
They can be copied on pen drives/CDs and carried around
