But Chennai has woken up as it has decided to impose fine on those who spit or urinate on roads or public places for Rs 50. For dumping garbage in places, more fine (Rs 100). The Chennai corporation ushered in this initiative by passing a resolution. Burning garbage in public places will attract Rs 500 fine and keeping uncleanly neighborhood will attract upto Rs 1000 fine. A good step, probably one of the best civic steps taken in independent India. With this Chennai will joining other cities in the world like Singapore who have taken the same steps to behave their citizens. One more thing they should be adding to this no smoking in public places.
