Review: Bar and Restaurant: Viceroy’s Sarathi

June 13, 2009 – 6:59 pm

Name: Viceroy’s Sarathi (bar and restaurant)

Location: Off 100 ft road, Indiranagar – near Krishna temple – Opp: Karnataka bank ATM

I went there with an old friend who suggested this place. I have been around this place a few times but I dont remember if I have noticed it. We went in there around 3.30 in the afternoon during a weekend. The rooftop service was not available then and we settled for the 1st floor. We checked the menu and the starters looked cheap in the beginning. We had 3 bottles (kingfisher premium) of bear each costing Rs 100. Outside it cost Rs 75. Peanut masala costs Rs 30 which should be ok. 1 plate chicken kabab ( 6 piece) costs Rs 95 – it is really high as  6 piece would  weigh around 200 gm and outside is available less than Rs 35. We went for chicken manchurian which costed us Rs 95 and there were not more than 7 pieces of chicken on the plate.

We are discussing various things as we met after a long period of time and he we was supposed to fly abroad for a fortnight shortly. Meanwhile, I spotted a samll fly floating on my glass of beer. I lifted that fly with a spoon out of the glass and shown to the waiter available. This guy went around and nothing was forth comming. Then he came back with another guy who seemed little senior and I told what had happened. I wanted them to replace the amount of beer which was left in the glass. One of the waiter told how can they replace it – as they will have to open one more bottle. However, I persisted and then after a little consultations with the boss the waiter came with a pint and replaced it. well, good that they did it but if it were pizza hut it would had been replaced immediately. This is where comes the difference in service.

The bottomline is it is costly in terms of booze and food both. May be given a miss, unless no options available.
