Signs of Karnataka Budget 2008

The state budget for Karnataka is around the corner and there are all round demands in this regard. CM Yeddyurappa who is also the Finance minsiter will be presenting the budget at the Vidhana Soudha. The budget seems to be rural oriented and a pr0 farmer one but it also promises for improvement of infrastructure in Bangalore. The government also envisioned a document called Karnataka 2020 as a blueprint for future development. It talks about eradicating poverty, removing regional imbalances, upgrading civic facilities in both urban and rural areas etc. There are large number of proposal and I will list a few which may interest you most:

1. Pro farmer budget with lots of grants and loans promoting agriculture.

2. Karnataka Agriculture Mission to be setup with CM as the chairman.

3. Honarary payment to gram panchayat members.

4. Cyber Cafes to be set up in all gram panchayats.

5. Bycycles to be provided to school students.

6. Loans at 6% will be available for students to pursue higher education.

7. Karnataka Knowledge and Higher education Commision to be setup.

8. Karnataka Sanskrit University at Bangalore to be setup.

9. An agriculture university at Raichur and a horticulture university at Bagalkot to be setup.

10. Kannada Film Academy to be started. Also, quite a few other offers for the film industry.

11. Health sector to receive a boost after many ventures take off. Like a general hospital in Indiranagar etc.

12. Rs 1800 crore to dicongest Bangalore.

13. Concessions for senior citizens on state road transport corporations.

14. 6 new medical  collages.

15. New Ayurvedic college in Shimoga

16. VAT to become cheaper and taxes will become more lucid.
