Tata Steel Makes it to Fortune 500 List

Tata Steel, the 5th largest steel producer in the world has made to the fortune 500 list for the first. Tata Steel is the second Indian Private company to have made to the list. A statement from the company said it ranks 231 in terms of revenue. After the acquisition of Corus, Tata Steel has rammed up its production to around 30 million tonnes with over 82,000 employees working in 27 countries on four continents.
Global retain chain Wal-Mart is heading the list for the year 2008. The list of other Indian public sector companies in the Fortune 500 list are as follows:
Indian Oil ranked —- 116th
private sector conglomerate Reliance India Ltd ranked 207th
Public sector oil major Bharat Petroleum ranked 287th
Public sector oil major Hindustan Petroleum ranked 290th
public sector oil and gas major ONGC ranked 335th
public sector bank State Bank of India ranked 380th
