Vajra Auto Service for Air Passengers
September 7, 2008 – 5:03 pm

Air passengers comming from New Bangalore Internation Airport need not worry anymore for the last mile connectivity. As after boadring down at a particular stop, you do not need to wrangle with other auto-drivers or disturb your friends or relatives by calling them to pick you up. The BMTC has launched a new service called Vajra Auto Service to ferry passengers to cover the list mile connectivity after the passeger board down from the Vayu Vajra (Volvo) bus. While boarding the bus at Bengaluru International Airport, you have to specify that you need an autorickshaw for that last stretch home. For this service, BMTC will charge an additional Rs 40 alongwith the bus fare. However, your home or office should be within 3-4 km radius of the Vayu Vajra route. After boarding down from the bus, you need to present the bus ticket counterfoil to the autorickshaw driver, who will present it to BMTC for reimbursement.
The plan is a revenue sharing agreement between BMTC and auto rickshaw unions. The auto drivers are supposed to get Rs 15 from every Rs 40 collected. These autos will be fitted with GPS (Global Positioning System) and will be linked to a BMTC control room.
