The Iron Lady is based on the life of former Birtish prime minister Margaret Thatcher. The movie is mostly in flashbacks starting from her younger days and showing some of the most remarkable events during her premiership. She became prime minister in 1979 and hold post for little over 11 years. Which makes her longest serving prime minister of UK. She handled the affairs of that period very firmly e.g – miners strike, Falkland war etc. The focus of the movie is mainly on the life Margaret Thatcher showing her determination to bring changes and what price she paid for achieving power. She was fondly called the Iron Lady by the Russians.

The Iron Lady makes a good watch mainly because of the amazing acting done by Meryl Streep. She has been able to match the accent and even the makeup was almost there. The film won to Academy (Oscar) awards for 2011 – best actress (Meryl Streep) and best makeup. If you are looking for content then there is nothing much to see.

I watched it today at Inox. Each ticket cost Rs 280. If you want to watch it in the theater in Bangalore, hurry up as it may not be available in theaters after this week.

Mahesh Bhatt is back with Murder 2. This sequel too have Emran Hashmi but there is no Mallika Sherawat. But the female lead is played by Sri Lankan model Jacqueline Fernandez. Check the trailer below:

It is quite sometime, I watched the movie “I am Number four” on a suggestion. The ticket was booked at Inox for the 7.30 pm show on Saturday.

I am Number four is a saga of two alien races. One of which fight for survival and another for power and supremacy. I am Number four is adapted from a novel of the same name by James Frey and Jobie Hughes who write by the pen name Pittacus Lore. Produced by DreamWorks Pictures it released on 18/02/2011.

The story starts with a commentary – 9 alien beings escaped from the planet Lorien. They are chased by Mogadorians, another race of aliens. The species from Lorien looks like humans on earth. 9 of them took shelter on earth and they can be killed only in sequence. They were given numbers from 1 to 9. Each of them had special power and legacies. The Mogadorians wanted to kill them and gain their power. Number 1 was killed in Malaysia, Number 2 in England and Number 3 in Kenya. The story revolves around Number 4 – who was introduced as Daniel Jones and his guardian Henri who runs from one place to another to save Daniel.

As Henri discovers that the other race has found about their whereabouts, they decided to leave Florida and move to Paradise, Ohio. Here Daniel takes a new name John Smith and decides to go to school again against the wish of Henri. There he meets and gets closer to Sarah Hart. Makes friend with Sam who thinks his father was abducted by aliens. Here John suddenly started to develop power and one day in the astronomy class his hand started to hurt and glow. Henri tells him that his first legacy arrived and he is becoming powerful.

As John and Sarah gets closer, Sarah’s ex – boyfriend Mark decides to kidnap Sarah when both of them were going through a artificial hunted place in a fair. John defeats Mark and his associates. Here was John’s first display of strength. At a Thanksgiving dinner Henri did not turn up and nor answered his call. Worried John started to search and found Henri at Sam’s publisher of alien conspiracy magazine. The publisher was with the other race. John freed Henri and ran away. However, on the Mogadorians tried to Kill number 4 (John) but Henri was killed and thus the sequence was broken. The last climax fight scene was beautifully shot. John and Sarah was in the photography lab when Mogadorians with the help of Mark surrounded them. But with number 6 coming to the scene they fight back and kills the Mogadorians. The movie ends with John, Sam and Number 6 leaving in search of the other 4 Lorien. John told Sarah, he will be back again.

Yesterday night I watched Sharukh Khan and Kajol starer My Name is Khan (MNIK).Just before I started watching my friend told that it is a slow movie and if I prepare my mind that way, I will not feel bad. After watching the promos of MNIK I thought to watch it at home rather than at the theaters. The basic undercurrent of the story is how liberal America became divided on the caste lines and how Muslims were treated post 9/11. Shahrukh Khan play Rizwan Khan. He was a challenged person suffering from Asperger’s syndrome ( a disease which make it difficult to interact socially, problem with particular colours and sound). He had a special quality to repair things. So his mother took him to a good reclusive teacher. Rizwan’s younger brother Zakir (Jimmy Shergill) was angry as he used to get more attention from their mother. Zakir got a scholarship from a US university and went there to study and settled there. He married a psychologist called Haseena. Zakir wanted his mother to come and stay with him in the US. But she was not ready to leave Rizwan alone in India and Zakir told he will sponsor him too. Following their mother’s death, Rizwan came to US to keep his mother’s word.

In US Zakir run his own Herbal beauty product company. Rizwan stars to work for his brother as a salesman. During his sell endeavors he met Mandira (Kajol) at one beauty parlor owned by her. Mandira is a divorce and lives with her son Sameer or Sam. Following a few meetings they became closer and Rizwan asked to marry him. Despite resistance from his younger brother Zakir as Manidra is a Hindu girl, Rizwan married Mandira. After marriage Manidra and Sam embraced Rizwan’s last name Khan. Following 9/11 their neighbor Resse’s father died fighting the Taliban in Afghanistan. Misgivings against Muslims were increasing in the US and Resse and Sam’s friendship started to fall apart as Sam was a Muslim then. One day Sam caught hold of Resse and forced him to tell why he was avoiding him. Seeing this few rouge boys came and had an altercation with sam. Following this they beaten Sam and at last with a football shot killed him.

When Mandira came to know that death of Sam has a racial angle, she thought marrying a Muslim was wrong. She thought Sam would have remained Hindu, he would not have died. She asked Rizwan to leave. She told him if he can go to the president of US and tell “My name is Khan and I am not a terrorist”.

Rizwan leaved Mandira’s house and went to meet US president. In his pursuit to meet the US president he met Mamma Jenny whose son he helped on the way. After sometime with no money, he started using his repairing skills to make money. Once when he was trying to meet the president at a collage campus, he started shouting “My name is Khan and I am not a terrorist”. The guards heard only terrorist and he was arrested and jailed. But as he helped the FBI to catch some extremist Muslims he was set free. Sometime later Georgia was hit by cyclone and Rizwan went there to help mama Jenny. This has been flashed to the media and Rizwan Khan became a celebrity overnight. Seeing Rizwan on TV his brother and others came to see him at the devastated place with rations. Mandira also came. When Rizwan saw Mandira and was about to go and speak to her, one of those extremist whom he helped caught came and stabbed him. However, he recovered.

US got a new African American president. He went to one of his public meetings and he was told the president wants to meet you. He shared the dais with him. He told the president, “My name is Khan and I am not a terrorist”.
